Everything You Need to Know About the MetalMaster Pro™
What drills does it fit?
It fits any standard drill chuck (10mm or 3/8" and up). Works with corded drills, cordless drills, and impact drivers from DeWalt, Makita, Ryobi, Ozito, Milwaukee - basically any brand you've got in the shed. Just chuck it in like a regular drill bit.
How thick can it cut?
The MetalMaster Pro™ handles up to 18-gauge (1.2mm) galvanised steel, 20-gauge (0.8mm) stainless steel, 14-gauge (2mm) aluminium, and even thicker copper. That covers most roofing iron, flashing, gutters, and sheet metal you'll work with around the house or on site.
Is it hard to control?
Nah, dead easy. You guide it like you're cutting with scissors - the drill does all the work. Start slow to get your line, then speed up once you're on track. The cutting head swivels 360°, so you can tackle curves, circles, and tight corners without wrestling with it.
Will it work on corrugated roofing?
Absolutely. It's brilliant for corrugated iron and Colorbond roofing. The cutting head rides over he ribs and follows the profile, making clean cuts across or along the sheets. Way better than trying to bend tin snips around corrugations.
Does it leave sharp edges?
The cuts are cleaner than tin snips and don't leave the distorted, curled edges you get from manual cutting. You'll still want to file or deburr sharp edges for safety (like you would with any metal cutting), but the cut quality is noticeably better.
How long do the blades last?
With normal DIY use, the hardened steel blades should last through dozens of projects. If you're cutting all day every day (tradie-level use), you might need to replace them after a few months. Replacement blades are available and easy to swap out.
Can it cut curves and circles?
Yep! That's one of the best parts. The 360° rotating head lets you follow curved lines, cut circles for pipe penetrations, and navigate tight corners - stuff that's nearly impossible with straight tin snips. Perfect for fitting around vents, pipes, and outlets.
What if my drill isn't powerful enough?
Any drill with decent torque will do the job. A basic 12V cordless drill works fine for lighter materials. For thicker steel or all-day cutting, an 18V drill or corded drill gives you more grunt, but it's not essential for typical home projects.
